Research applied to the supply of mineral resources, in particular strategic metals needed for the energy transition and the digital development. Three goals:
– Structural controls : understanding the structural controls of Canadian unconformity-related basement hosted uranium deposits. Sponsor Orano Res. Canada, collaborations with Canadian universities.
– Strategic metals : understanding the distribution of metal potential, in particular lithium, as a by-product in geothermal systems associated with extensive crustal faults. Sponsor Totalenergies, collaborations with French and Spanish universities.
– Artificial intelligence : integration and development of digital geostatistical and artificial intelligence techniques applied to exploration big data. Collaboration GEOPS, ENS and Institute of Mathematics of the University of Paris Saclay.

TOPIC 2
Fundamental research about interactions between deformation and circulation of fluids through the deformed crust. Studies target areas of extensive and compressive polyphase tectonics. The objectives are to understand: (i) processes and constraint the timing of response of fluid circulation to tectonic changes, and (ii) the evolution of circulation systems modifying the composition of fluids and so on their capacity to remobilize or precipitate mineralization.
