Fluid Inclusions microthermometry

The platform is equipped with a Linkam MDS600 automated cooling and heating stage (-196°C to 600°C), mounted on a Leica DM2500M microscope and fitted with a Qimaging – Qicam Fast 1394 camera.

Principle of analysis :

This microthermometric analysis method measures phase change temperatures in a fluid inclusion trapped in a crystal.

Analyses performed on the instrument :

These measurements make it possible to reconstruct, for example, the temperature and salinity of the diagenetic fluid at the origin of the crystals, or its CO2, CH4 content. This method is particularly useful for studying the origin of mineralization in basins.
